Alexander used to be King of Macedonia and some of the known world from 336-323 B.C. He used to be the greatest military strategist in the ancient world. A great accomplishment since he died at the age of 33. Alexander used to be also well educated, having Aristotle as one of his teachers. It is a fine example of the period of later fine art (336-280 B.C.) and is a particularly famous coin and appears over a great time period. This coin used to be not only struck right through the time of Alexander, but also by many of his successors.
